Tremayne Galloway
I am in my final year of the MA in Contemporary Relationship Studies. As part of my training I am completing a placement offering low cost counselling to couples and families.
My approach
My approach is relational and integrative, informed by contemporary relationship studies, including systemic thinking. This means I draw on different ways of understanding people and their experiences, while paying close attention to relationships, context, and the wider systems around them.
I aim to offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients can talk openly and feel heard, working collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for them. As a trainee counsellor, I value reflection, supervision, and ongoing learning as central to ethical and thoughtful practice.
Where it all started
My interest in counselling developed through my work in community and voluntary sector settings, where I supported people navigating change, uncertainty, and complex life experiences. Through this work, I became increasingly aware of how individual experiences are often closely connected to relationships, family dynamics, and social contexts.
Being alongside people as they made sense of their experiences showed me the importance of having a space where these connections can be explored safely and thoughtfully. This led me to undertake postgraduate training in counselling, with a focus on contemporary relationship studies and integrative practice, and to begin my placement at Sheffield Central Counselling.
