Rebecca Goodwin

Hi I'm Rebecca, I’m a counsellor-in-training, currently studying with The Sheffield College. I’ve always been passionate about mental health services and truly believe that therapy is just as important for our wellbeing as physical exercise or eating well. I’m quite a spiritual person and believe in connection and energies. (However, while this informs my personal outlook, my counselling practice focuses on each client as an individual)  My own lived experience of mental health struggles and neurodivergence deepen the empathy I bring to my counselling practice.

My Approach

I work in a humanistic, person-centred way, which means I place you at the heart of the counselling process. I strongly believe that each individual is unique. My aim is to offer a warm, fully-present, and non-judgemental space where you can feel able to talk openly and explore whatever is important to you. If, for a moment, we consider counselling as a journey then I look forward to meeting you and travelling alongside you on your path.

Where it all began

My background includes experience in NHS community mental health crisis support as well as voluntary sector mental health services. I also have 15 years’ experience in clinical community support work, where I’ve often needed to build immediate connections and establish trust with people meeting me for the first time, many of whom have been in particularly vulnerable stages within their lives. I feel so privileged to have worked in such a role for such a length of time and feel it has naturally guided me into counselling alongside teaching me a great deal of empathy along the way.
