Pat Jones
I am a counsellor
in training at the end of my 2nd year of a three year MA in
Contemporary Relationship Studies at Doncaster University College. I’m offering
low-cost counselling to couples and families.
I aim to
provide a nurturing space for you to explore your concerns
and goals, where you feel welcomed just as you are. Many couples and families seek therapy when
communication breaks down, tensions rise, or relationships feel stuck, and they
need a safe, non-judgemental space to explore challenges and reconnect. Together,
we can explore areas that feel painful or stuck, support healing where it is
needed, and nurture growth in directions that feel right for you.
My Approach
My approach
is integrative with the foundations in systemic and psychodynamic therapy
allowing me to offer an approach tailored to unique needs of clients.
In systemic
therapy, sessions often focus on the interactions and relationships within
groups, helping clients address issues and move forward. This approach aims to
identify and change unhealthy relationship dynamics by exploring deep-rooted
patterns in communication and behaviour based on beliefs about roles within
groups and families.
Through
psychodynamic therapy, unconscious patterns and past experiences that influence
current behaviour are explored. This helps to gain insight into actions and
emotions and facilitate personal growth and change.
My Christian faith
plays an important role in shaping my values and qualities I consider vital in
therapeutic work such as compassion and acceptance.
Where it all started
Drawing from
over three decades of experience in nursing and midwifery, I bring a wealth of knowledge
and compassion to my role as a counsellor. My healthcare journey has offered
deep insight into human resilience, emotional wellbeing, and the complexities
of life transitions. Alongside this, my own lived experience of facing and
recovering from personal life challenges has been a significant part of what
led me into counselling. These experiences have shaped my belief in the
possibility of change and healing, and I bring the hope I have found in my own
journey to support others in making theirs, whatever that may look like for
them.
