*THREE SPACES REMAINING *This FREE half-day training, which is offered by Drink Wise Age Well Sheffield, aims to explore the issues around alcohol use among the over 50s, including causes, approaches to behaviour change, and awareness of local services. Date: Weds 18th Dec, Time: 9.30am - 1.00pm

This training half-day aims to achieve the following learning objectives
- explore the reasons as to how, and why, the over 50s are at increased risk of developing alcohol issues and potential harm caused by alcohol in later life
- understand the concept of life transitions and how they might impact on alcohol use in the over 50s
- what is a unit, how to calculate a unit and what are the current government guidelines
- identify and consider alcohol use in the over 50s and practice how to respond to this
- understand change theory and practice the application of the theory
- recognise signs and symptoms (red flags) associated with alcohol use/ harm in an older adult
- understand use of simple brief interventions such as FRAMES and practice using technique
- appreciate how the learning from this course can be applied in the local setting
