Sheffield Central Counselling is an established small group practice in Sheffield City Centre. We offer private affordable counselling to the public and also work with local employers to provide counselling for their staff. Our premises are discreetly located in a serviced office building near Sheffield Cathedral.
We are looking for a qualified couples counsellor to work with couples and individuals, who is able to work face-to-face as well as remotely. This is a 0.4 post (two days, hours to be confirmed) and we seek a counsellor who can work one evening per week (finishing at 8pm). Days of work are negotiable and will mostly be based at our offices with flexibility to work from home for remote counselling sessions and administrative work.
Responsibilities and Duties
Your core responsibilities will be undertaking counselling for private clients, whether couples or individuals. This includes managing your appointments and online calendar, record keeping and attending our monthly peer supervision group and other occasional team events. You will also meet regularly with your own private supervisor in line with the requirements of your professional body.
In addition, we will assign you some marketing and admin tasks to include:
- Writing blog posts or other content for our social media
- Answering phone or email enquiries
- Organising the supply of our handouts and client forms
- Other administrative tasks that may arise
Qualifications and Skills
We require you to have a qualification in couples counselling (at least Diploma level), OR in counselling or psychotherapy with certificated additional study in working with couples. We also require you to be registered with a professional body such as BACP, NCS, COSRT or similar and be either accredited or working towards accreditation.
Some professional experience post qualification is desirable, but this role may also suit a newly qualified practitioner, if you have undertaken a placement working with couples.
You will need to be confident working independently and managing your own caseload. Your line manager will be one of our two Directors and as they have their own caseload the level of daily contact will be limited.
Additional desirable skills:
A specialist area of work such as addiction, eating disorders or neurodiversity.
Experience in marketing, using social media and other forms of advertising.
Ability to deliver training and contribute to our programme of CPD courses
